Analysis
In this stage, we assess root causes of learning gaps and performance gaps. The steps undertaken during the analysis phase are:
  • Audience Analysis: This is the demographic and affective analysis of the audience. This covers the audience background, the audience prerequisite, and their feelings. The feelings and influences are captured by an innovative method called the Balance of Consequences.
  • Tasks Analysis: This determines what must be learned to achieve certain goals and performance standards. It addresses the question of what additional knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors learners must acquire to improve performance.
  • Content Analysis: This creates an inventory of existing knowledge artifacts, and analyzes their relevance to learning needs. Information analysis and Info Mapping are leveraged for adapting learning resources to multiple contexts, through reusability and interoperability. This also helps optimize investments.
